"A pulse-pounding mix of 60’s camp Hammer and pre-Millennium electronica tension, juxtaposed with primal sexuality, Orwellian oppression and Gothic terror.” So goes the tag-line for debut director Martin Mercer’s video "Hammer House of Horror." Shot for a total budget of $3,500 dollars, the film was lensed in L.A. with a mixture of 35mm, 16mm & High 8 over a period of three days, with all of the art direction, miniatures and prop construction handled by Mercer himself. The music, provided by Andy Wilson (2000 Easy) employs classic James Bernard edits from Hammer originals as well as a techno-based sensibility, creating the aural landscape behind this tribute to Hammer. Deverill Weeks (fashion photgrapher) served as director of photography, Toni G. (Rick Baker alumn) as principal makeup artist and of course, myself as Dracula and the lovely Angel as my vampire bride.
